From the picturesque village of Balada, opposite the iconic Baladre de Balada, we will cross the river by kayak to skirt this island of stunning beauty. You will sail alongside a lush riverside forest, home to grey herons, night herons, storks and an incredible variety of native species.
During the tour, marine fauna such as sea bass, mullet and sea bream accompany the adventure beneath our boats, while the Delta sky treats us to a spectacle of birds in flight.
We will finish at our River Centre, after crossing the Balada Bridge and the Lo Passador Bridge, leaving behind a picture that will remain etched in your memory.
Kayak route through Illa de Buda and the Mijgorn River
A journey through wild nature, ancient branches of the Ebro River and unspoilt landscapes of the Delta.
Delve into one of the most authentic and wild landscapes of the Ebro Delta Natural Park with this water route through Illa de Buda and the old bed of the Migjorn River. A unique experience where the river, the sea and the rice fields merge to offer you an unparalleled natural spectacle.
The starting point is La Barcaza de Buda, an ancient river crossing steeped in history, from where we begin our adventure by paddling towards the imposing Ebro River. On this stretch, you can appreciate all the power and majesty of Spain’s longest river just before it meets the sea.
As we move forward, we enter an environment that seems frozen in time: on one side, the rice fields that change colour depending on the time of year — intense green in spring, golden in summer, brown or blue in winter —; on the other, Buda Island, one of the most unspoilt, protected and biodiverse areas of the Delta, home to water birds, native flora and countless unique species.
The route continues until it reaches the former mouth of the Ebro River, now sealed by sediments and transformed into a wild beach: Platja del Migjorn. Here we will make a special stop to enjoy a swim in the Mediterranean waters or to visit the nearby Migjorn viewpoint, from where you can see the Bassa de l’Alfacada, a lagoon where flamingos, herons and other birds find refuge.
A circular route, peaceful and full of nuances, ideal for reconnecting with nature and enjoying an environment of great beauty and ecological value.
